Top Things To Do in Unawatuna

We absolutely fell in love with Unawatuna. There’s just so much to do there and it’s very chill!ย We hired a scooter for a few days and went exploring all around Unawatuna and just loved it. There are so many different vibes. We got Bali vibes, Koh Lanta, and a splash of Italy believe it or not.

The best way to get around is by scooter, but if you haven’t driven one before hire a tuk tuk & driver for the day.

Okay without further a do, the top 5 things to do in Unawatuna, Sri Lanka.

Galle fort

Galle fort is a very famous and very interesting place to visit. It’s a great place to spend the afternoon and watch the sunset with some amazing views from the top. The fort has been there since 1588 and was first built by the Portuguese. You should deffo check it out just for the interesting history and architecture.

Galle light house

Probably the most Instagramable Lighthouse you’ll ever see. With a beautiful backdrop of the sea and palm trees, so picturesque. It can get quite busy so to avoid that head there early. Otherwise take your time walking around. The beach around it is beautiful!

Koggola beach

We come across this little beach by accident. It was completely empty and had beautiful palm trees lined up the side. We saw one other local our entire time there. The trees have entrances so you can set up a little afternoon camp with a few beers if you wanted too. (Please take your rubbish with you if you do!)

Spot the turtles

We were actually at the lighthouse taking photos and a construction worker ran over to us saying ‘turtles, turtles, come!’ and took us on to the construction site where all the workers had stopped to watch them. Huge big green turtles enjoying the waves. So lovely to see.

Jungle beach

A beautiful spot for the sunset and some super friendly dogs that hang out there. Make sure you take bug spray (the tips in the name ๐Ÿ˜‚) you have to walk through a jungle to get there! Worth the walk down though for sure! The sunset we saw here was insane. It’s a little bit of a drive out of down but if you have a scooter (or tuk tuk) it’s worth going to for sure.

We hope you enjoyed this little blog, make sure you tag @pairofplodders on your insta pics ๐Ÿ˜
